Parent Involvement

Title I Parent Involvement
The Title I program for parents is designed to:

  1. Inform parents about Title I regulations
  2. Involve parents in local Title I decisions
  3. Provide literacy training
  4. Offer parents training in schools and in the community on ways to work with their children at home to raise student achievement
  5. ncourage active participation in their children’s schools and education.

Public Law 103-382 requires:

  • All Title I schools to develop jointly, with parents of participating children, a parent-student-teacher compact (written agreement) that states what parents, students and the school will do together to raise student achievement.
  • Schools must sponsor an annual meeting for all Title I parents and involve parents in an “organized, ongoing and timely way” in the planning, review and improvement of Title I schools.
  • Each Title I school utilize a percentage of its Title I allocation to support a comprehensive parental involvement program.

Title I Parent Involvement

The Central Jersey Arts Charter School believes that successful schooling is a shared responsibility requiring commitment and collaboration among parents, faculty, and community. Positive parent involvement and convenient opportunities for staff/parent interaction and parent education, constructive home/school relationships, and the earliest possible intervention and involvement of the family in supporting student learning are characteristics of effective programs. Our School will include a Parent Involvement Goal in our plans. First we will be extending and invitation to all interested parents to attend one of the quarterly Title One Committee meetings at which time you will have the opportunity to assist in decision-making regarding our title one curriculum. Additionally, to support parental involvement at our school we at CJACS have developed the group called It Takes A Village (ITAV). I.T.A.V. is a group made up of parents, employees, and Plainfield community members interested in creating a positive learning environment for CJACS students. Please feel free to contact me with any questions regarding the program and our committee.
